Ministry & Mission

OBPC believes that God has called us together to be the salt and light and yeast for our communities.  Local programs such as the Peninsula Chuch Center Daycare (preschool), NAMI (support for those affected with or by mental illness), Peninsula FISH (providing emergency food and housing), Wellspring (networking with public and private community agencies, schools, law enforcement, etc.), CECAP Home Health, Food4Kids Backpack Program, Long Beach Summer Lunch Program, and Empty Bowls for local hunger programs can trace their origin or ongoing support directly to the congregation and its members. In addition, the OBPC Youth participate in an annual mission trip and our congregation opens its doors to the homeless in partnership with the Peninsula Poverty Program during the seasonal Overnight Winter Lodging (OWL) program.

Even the Long Beach City hall building was originally built by local Presbyterian Women to serve as a community women’s social center.  The old Long Beach Presbyterian Church building now houses the school district offices.
